The Liberty Program focuses on Sailors E6 and below, 18-26 years of age. Unaccompanied Sailors of all ranks are also welcome to participate in Liberty activities and trips.
We offer recreational, sports and leisure activities, as well as cultural entertainment, Japanese language lessons, movies and bowling specials, and local day trips. Many events are free; all are brought to you at the lowest cost possible.
The Liberty Lounge is a great place for single sailors to spend some down time. There are several big screen televisions with comfortable seating, as well as gaming consoles, wireless internet, computers, massage chairs, phones to call home, and all the latest movies and games to enjoy. It even has its own mini theater, where you can request playing your favorites.
Sailors E5 and below receive discounted tours, movies, bowling and more! Look for ads with the "Blue Jacket Special" logo or download the current bowling or late night liberty specials under "Downloads."

Let’s go fishin'! Fish for varieties of mackerel (aji & saba) on a chartered boat in Chigasaki, just an hour away from NAF Atsugi. Fee includes transportation and charter rental, reel rental and bait. Bring extra yen for extra hooks, food and beverage. Comfortable shoes and a jacket are recommended.
Enjoy an intermediate level, four to five-hour hike with views of Mt. Fuji and its natural surroundings. Hike limited to ages six and older due to the rugged terrain and physical requirements. Tour may be cancelled due to inclement weather on short notice.
Go fishing at Lake Ashinoko, a scenic lake located in nearby Hakone. The lake is known for its views of Mt. Fuji, its numerous hot springs,historical sites, and ryokan. Wear comfortable shoes and bring extra yen for food and souvenirs.
Tokyo’s Thai Festival is one of the largest and most anticipatedethnic festivals held in Yoyogi Park each spring. This year’s event isexpected to feature up to 100 booths selling Thai delicacies andfruit smoothies.
Explore Nagano’s Kamikochi, famous for its natural beauty, with picturesque mountains, colorful ponds, streams, the Azusa River, forests, and the Kappabashi Suspension Bridge. Tour limited to ages four and older.
Join Liberty as we take a trip to Ryogoku Kokugikan to watch a traditional Sumo Wrestling Tournament. Watch the new recruits step into the sumo ring for their first time, as they compete with their higher ranking players!
All day trip to Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea. Drop-o and pick-up will be made at both locations. The bus will not stay on location, so please plan accordingly. Disney park tickets are at your expense. To avoid standing in line at Tokyo Disneyland, tickets may be purchased at IACE travel located in the Tours O ce, 264-6297. IACE charges a ¥540 administration fee for each ticket.
